Description

The Operations Superintendent, under the direction of the Mill Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of surface assets.  Surface assets include the existing milling facilities, the Vault expansion facilities, Loadout, TMA and the Powerhouse.  This role is directly responsible for meeting plan targets in safety, production, costs, and base business (which includes but is not limited to: PHAs, Ops Excellence, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, procedure review and compliance, operator development and performance management).  

The Superintendent requires extensive technical and operating experience and knowledge and a broad supervisory experience to handle individual and crew/team issues.


Specific responsibilities will include:

Manage the mill operations in a safe and efficient manner.  This includes application of lean management techniques to reduce waste and provide clarity.  Ensures proper care of equipment and integrity of Mill OEE data.
Coach and support direct reports  2 Senior Supervisors, 3 Production Coordinators, 1 Ops Coordinator.   Tiered accountability meetings, assigning actions, strategic direction for team.
Accountable for the effective interaction and planning between operations and; maintenance, process engineering, and project engineering
Develops and monitors progress towards annual objectives for the operations department.  Goals to include operational production forecasts that align with reliability goals, budget constraints, ProdEx targets, EHS program changes, and overall continuous improvement in Safety/Reliability/Productivity/Cost.
Liaison with customers/peers  Mine, VAULT, Contractors, Ops Superintendent counterparts on ProdEx.
