As the Chief Power Engineer, your role is to achieve safe production objectives and inspire our operators and trainees to pursue 2nd, 3rd, and 4th class power engineering certifications.
RESPONSIBLITIES
Under the direction of the Mill Manager you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all boilers at McClean Lake.
The Chief Power Engineer is responsible for the McClean Lake Quality Manual as it applies to maintenance, operation, and repairs of boilers and pressure vessels as per the requirements of the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) and the Saskatchewan Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act.
In conjunction with the Mill Operations and Maintenance supervisors, the Chief Power Engineer will also be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Acid Plant, Ferric Sulfate Plant, Oxygen Plant and the Ammonium Sulphate Crystallisation Plant.
Responsible for the development and mentoring of the Power Engineering supervision and lead hands. Also cover vacation as acting Supervisor and/or support leadhands who cover for supervisors on vacation.
Participate in community outreach to develop and encourage more northern Saskatchewan applicants and develop northern resident trainees to achieve 2nd and 3rd class tickets.
Responsible for the maintenance and development of a training program to progress the trainees through to second class power engineering certification.
Statutory reporting to the Boilers Branch and liaison with inspectors is required.
Support the Mill Maintenance planning personnel in their activities and other duties as required by mill supervision.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum first class Power Engineer Certificate.
Secondary education preferred.
10 years training and operating experience.
Willingness to commit to training Northerners.
PLACE OF WORK: McClean Lake Minesite, 7 days in /7 days out rotation
