Applicant should have a genuine desire to nurture and care for animals
Administering medications and vaccinations and micro chipping as indicated
Small wound care
Ability to deal with difficult cats or dogs and be familiar with animal handling and restraint
Basic knowledge of animal behavior
Overseeing the daily care, feeding, comfort of animals
Reporting any abnormal behaviors or health issues to senior staff
Bathe animals when required especially cats; grooming (hair combing, nail clipping etc.)
Instruct possible owners/adopters on the care of their animal and assisting in answering their questions
Give first aid to injured animals and work as a team to decide if veterinarian care is needed
Willingness to properly handle sick or quarantined animals
Get along well with people
Work well alone or as a team member
Enjoy working with animals and people
Dealing effectively with the public and being able to problem solve and answer their questions
Maintain and clean the shelter and kennels according to the procedure and standards required
Provide adopting information
Educating public about choosing the right pet, animal care, abuse, community programs etc.
Ability to remain calm, alert, and patient in crisis or conflict
Laundry
Lifting (dogs, kennels, cages, food bags, wood pellets etc.) Should be able to lift up to 55lbs
Perform clerical and administrative duties
Answering telephone, scheduling appointments, collecting and recording payments, handing monies, filing
Booking appointments for spay/neuter surgeries
Data entry, record keeping, documentation,
Overseeing front desk, and entrance
