Coordinating addiction initiatives for Yorkton Tribal Council member First Nations and Tribal Councils, networking with community based agencies and human resources while continuing to provide services as required. The overall mission of the Addictions Worker is to promote and maintain healthy lifestyles that enhance individuals, families and communities.
Providing information to the Yorkton Tribal Council First Nations by promoting awareness and education on Addictions and Problem Gambling
Providing information on available services to individuals experiencing problems with addictions, gambling, and offering referrals for treatment and counseling
Facilitating workshops and delivering presentations in response to requests from the YTC First Nations NNADAP Coordinators for information
Promoting Wellness and Healing Initiatives to establish a positive networking system for the YTC and area First Nations
Assisting the Yorkton Tribal Council First Nations in the development of program strategies on addictions and problem gambling
Developing partnerships with the YTC First Nations NNADAP Coordinators to assist in the delivery of awareness, prevention and treatment programs
Networking with outside agencies and resources to access services required for individuals and families who are experiencing problems associated with a wide range of addictions
Assisting in First Nations community-level wellness initiatives on an ongoing basis
Strengthening the working relationship and communication between the YTC and First Nation communities
Identifying appropriate resources available for training and skill development & enhancement
Must have Bachelor of Social Work OR specialized training in Addictions or a equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be able to manage a number of people, priorities and projects at one time, and may have to respond to emergency crisis situations
