Description

A full time permanent job opportunity for a Journeyperson or 4th Year Heavy Duty Mechanic or Truck & Transport Mechanic has opened up with our client based in Saskatoon. The role is only open to candidates who currently hold a journeyperson ticket and 4th year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic or Truck & Transport who have sufficient hours.  

Work schedule is based on a 2 week rotation schedule as follows:
Week 1:  Monday to Friday, 9.30am  6pm
Week 2:  Monday to Friday, 6am  2.30pm

Duties:
- Responsible for ongoing maintenance & repair of a state of the art materials recovery facility, as well as a wide variety of other equipment, both mobile & stationary
- Hands on troubleshooting, repair, adjustment and overhaul maintenance of truck and heavy equipment used in waste hauling, earth moving, and landfill operations and commercial trash compaction equipment and balers
- Dealing with breakdowns in the shop, on the road, and at the customer sites

Qualifications and skills:
- Journeyman or 4th year in either trade (Truck & Transport or Heavy Duty Mechanic)
- Strong experience in hydraulic and electrical systems is essential
- Basic understanding of industrial high-voltage electrical wiring would be a definite asset
- Ability to do global diagnostics on belt lines and feed mechanisms
- Experience with material handling, processing equipment, compactors and balers
- Electrical qualifications would be a significant asset
- Minimum valid Class 5 drivers license with acceptable abstract is a firm requirement

As a condition of employment, all new employees to safety sensitive positions must successfully pass a substance test prior to their first day of employment. A criminal record check and clean drivers abstract will also be required.
