Description

Camp Monahan is searching for an enthusiastic Camp Cook. The successful applicant will have a strong love for cooking, children & camp life. The applicant is to have strong leadership & organization skills, be a team player, friendly, good communication skills, be self motivated & possess good cooking skills to ensure the camping season runs smoothly. This position is perfect for the person or couple who may be wanting to get away from busy city life & enjoy their summer in the beautiful Qu'Appelle Valley on Katepwa Lake. Duties include:
- Prepare 3 healthy, full course meals & 2 nutritious snacks per day suitable for children ages 6-16, follow Canada Food Guide.
- Experience with quantity cooking a definite asset, you will be preparing for approximately 100-130 campers, staff & volunteers per meal.
- Prepare a nutritional menu keeping in mind quality & adequate proportions following the Canada Food Guide prior to start of camping season, in conjunction with Food Services committee. Plan for alternative menus for those requiring special meals.
- Maintain adequate supply of inventory, prepare list of needed supplies, following budget outline & submit & monitor weekly orders.
- Work closely with senior programs & out tripping staff regarding menu & food supplies required for off-site camping trips.
- Ensure all health regulations are adhered to preparing food & all related equipment. Cleanliness is important.
- Delegate duties to the Assistant Cook, train & delegate duties to volunteer kitchen staff & supervising their work.
- At end of the season, responsible for shut down of the kitchen, equipment storage & goods.
- Responsible to prepare an end of season report including inventory of remaining food & equipment with recommendations.
Your supervisor is Camp Director & Executive Director.
Terms: FT, we would consider hiring for contracted shorter timeframes, thus multiple applicants could be hired to fill 1 spot. Hours of work are Sunday 12:00 pm - Friday 12:00 pm.
