Description

Established manufacturer of agricultural and light industrial material handling equipment (www.leonsmfg.com and www.ramrodequip.com) requires an Engineering Manager.

The Engineering department plays a pivotal role in our manufacturing operation, providing critical services and support to production, sales, and customers, as well as leading initiatives to meet the Company's long term growth initiatives.

Primary responsibilities Include:
-Lead engineers and R&D technicians in the design and development of new and improved products based on cost targets, established timelines, design objectives, and competitive offerings.
-Define material needs and cost, labour times, design parameters, manufacturing jigs and production instructions for all engineering products or projects.
-Ensure effective execution of all product engineering activities to optimize production cost, quality, on time delivery.
-Lead product cost reduction initiatives.
-Liaise confidently with internal and external Customers on product support, designs, improvements and new business initiatives.
-Continuously educate themselves and the team on design approaches and ideas, new material options, market & industry trends, competitive activities, product features and benefits, manufacturing processes, export quality standards, etc.
-Mentor and provide guidance and positive leadership to all employees within the Engineering and R&D Department.

The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree with about 10 or more years of experience in leading a team of engineers in a mechanical manufacturing environment.    Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills are required.  A Professional Engineering designation and proficiency in AutoCAD are assets.
