File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council (FHQTC) provides second level services to eight schools within the Tribal Council. The Superintendent of Education will report to the Director of Education and provide leadership in the areas of student services to professional staff within the schools and education department. Other responsibilities include; working with Advisory Committee to establish a student retention plan, strategic planning, and building educational partnerships, assisting with data sharing exchanges between Ministry of Education and FHQTC and developing strong parental engagement with member communities.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful work and leadership in First Nation education.
This position requires a candidate who meets the meets the following eligibility criteria:
- Masters of Education and eligibility for Associate Membership in League of Educational Administrators, directors and Superintendents (LEADS);
- Minimum of 5 years teaching and administration experience in a First Nation setting ;
- Experience in First Nations as second level service provider, preferably at a regional or Tribal Council level;
- Practical experience in administering Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Affairs Development Canada funding arrangements;
- Experience in positions of added responsibility with federal or provincial educational environments.
