Description

General Description:

The Science Educator Outreach is responsible for the delivery of programs conducted throughout province including school workshops, stage shows, special events, and summer education programming. The Science Educator travels around the province throughout the year representing the Saskatchewan Science Centre by carrying out its mission and values.

Specific Responsibilities:
    Delivery of programming including;
o    School Workshops
o    Community Programs
o    Demonstrations
    Organization and coordination of travel. Assist the Senior Programs Coordinator in the organization of outreach events and travel.
    Participating in program development and improvement. Contributes to the ongoing development and improvement of programming
    Staff supervision and training
    Developing programming materials
    Science Communication
    Other Duties- Within the provision of programming

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
    Completed post secondary degree, certificate/diploma in science, technology, education, interpretation or related field
    Valid drivers licenses
    Willingness to travel year round
    Experience with live demonstrations and strong verbal communications skills
    Experience teaching or instructing a variety of age levels
    Curiosity and interest in science and science literacy
    Supervision and leadership experience
    Be able to lift and carry out to 25  30 pounds
    Stand for long periods of time

Working conditions
This is a full-time position and falls under the salary grid level 2.5. This position is required to travel year round. The position requires availability on weekends, weekdays and may require some evening weekend work.
