Key Responsibilities Included but not limited to:
- Lead and complete an estimate, including material, equipment and labour pricing
- Work within a team environment
- Review quantity take-offs done by others for accuracy and completeness,
- Perform accurate complete quantity take-offs as required
- Read and analyze project specifications for material specs and cost item impact, and project risks
- Prepare invitation to bid for subcontractor quotes
- Prepare data and secure material pricing from suppliers
- Lead and formulate all costs for tender submissions for projects
- Maintain well organized estimate and tender files
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Incorporate lessons learned from other projects and tenders
- Obtain and incorporate operation input
- Review and close estimates prepared by others
- Review site visit information and incorporate impact into estimate
- Maintain historical cost data and perform job cost analysis
The successful candidate must have the following:
- Understands employees and builds strong, safety oriented, team players
- Post-secondary education (Engineering degree or diploma) or combination of experience and education
- Minimum 2 years general contracting experience and a minimum of 5 years construction estimating experience
- Solid understanding of general and civil construction practices
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel, a scheduling program
- Solid knowledge of estimating software systems and all components of an estimate
- Estimating systems experience is required
