Description

Responsibilities
Install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain electrical distribution and transmission systems including overhead and underground power lines and cables, insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers and other associated equipment
Perform line maintenance in a safe and efficient manner utilizing de-energized, live line hot stick or live line bare hand techniques
Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires
Read and interpret blue prints or process specifications
Inspect and test overhead and underground power lines, cables and auxiliary equipment using electrical test equipment
Safely operate heavy duty utility equipment
Maintain good public relations
Maintain personal and group safety at all times
Respond to unscheduled outages
Be a positive team member
Local travel required, and interprovincial travel maybe required
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Experience and Education
High School Diploma
Completion of Post-Secondary Powerline Technician Diploma an asset
Previous work experience in a high voltage or construction company an asset
Previous experience working outside and at heights is an asset

Skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively work on teams
Ability to work at heights and work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time
Strong communication, team work and customer service skills
Excellent problem solving skills
Valid Class 1A Saskatchewan Drivers Licence
