Description

Palliser Regional Park is looking for lifeguards for the upcoming 2015 season. Duties include:

-Provide lifeguard duties and instruction services and related reception, information, cashier and janitorial services in pool areas.  Key responsibility is to ensure the safety, security, and enjoyment of the Park's water facilities.  Reporting to the Pool Supervisor and Park Management the successful candidate must:
-teach instructional swimming lessons;
-prepare lesson plans, test sheets, record cards and certificates;
-communicate and implement pool policies, safety rules, emergency procedure;
-possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.  Understand and provide excellent customer service and solutions to problems that may arise;
-operate, monitor and adjust systems to ensure the safety of pool.  Test water and maintain a safe and clean pool/deck to prevent accidents or injury. Check and ensure all emergency equipment is ready and identify repair or replacement;
-provide administrative assistance;
-be able to recognize, react quickly, and think clearly when emergency situations arise and lead/assist local emergency services and/or law enforcement authorities when required;
-have knowledge of lifesaving and emergency care procedures and practices specific to the Park's services and emergency plans;
-possess current National Lifeguard Certification, Lifesaving Society Instructor or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, CPR, and Red Cross first aid certification.  Individual must be physically fit;
-be comfortable working as part of a team, but also be able to work independently with or without direction.
Hours of work may vary, so flexibility is required.
