The MEND Theory Leaders primary responsibility is to deliver the MEND program(s) nutrition and mind sessions; facilitate discussion amongst participants, parents and families; and help families understand the MEND program.
The MEND Physical Activity Leaders primary responsibility is to engage the children in age appropriate physical activity. The Physical Activity Leader will be responsible for leading active family games and creative play.
Program Leaders will report directly to the MEND Program Manager.
Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for a wide range of duties including, but not limited to:
-Required to deliver the MEND program(s), which include: Attending all MEND sessions; Assist in the accurate collection and recording of data at two Healthy Growth Checks.
-Able to communicate information and facilitate discussion in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental manner.
Physical Activity / Play Leaders:
-Helping to develop physical literacy in a safe and not competitive environment.
Experience
-Having a background in (preferred) or having experience in one of the following areas: physical activity, nutrition, recreation therapy, early childhood education, behavioural health psychology, or health promotion.
-Working with groups and engaging children and their families
-Experience working with children aged 2-4 (asset)
-Physical Activity Leaders: Prior involvement in instructing physical activity or exercise sessions (asset)
Education
-First Aid / CPR (Physical Activity Leaders)
Other factors
-Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal records check (including vulnerable sector) prior to start of employment.
-Enthusiastic and empathetic
-Organized and punctual
-This position will be contracted on an hourly casual basis with established weekly hours.
-Required to attend the MEND theory training and pass the post training assessment.
