Description

Definition: The employee in this class is responsible for operating light construction and grounds maintenance equipment, various riding mowers, hand tools and grounds maintenance, structure and facility maintenance and other manual labor as necessary.  Mows grass and weeds, trim trees and brush, remove debris, cleans facilities, removes trash, maintain equipment and observe safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Performs ground maintenance tasks: mow, edge, trim grass areas; plant, mulch, stake, trim trees and shrubs
    cut, roll, lay and water sod, install, clean out and repair culverts and drop inlets; pick-up, load and secure debris and trash; operate and maintain tractors and various equipment, commercial riding mowers, trimmers, edgers, aerators, seeders, spreaders.
    Performs park improvement tasks: repairs, assembles, and installs picnic tables, grills, play structures, trash can holders, fencing, barriers, signs, cleans restrooms, empty trash, and gates.
    chain saws, outboard motors, power seeders, aerators, posthole augers, edgers, and trimmers.

Environmental Demands
     Work is performed entirely outdoors with exposure to all elements: i.e., insects,
     hot temperatures, rain, wind & dust.


Physical Demands
    Must be able to communicate effectively and receive instructions by verbal communications from supervisor or by telephone or 2-way radio.
All employees must have reliable source of transportation
