Description

The Feed Plant Manager will provide overall general management of the feed plant location. They will administer and monitor compliance with FeedAssure (FeedAssure is a feed safety program that examines in minute detail the processes for purchasing, and manufacturing of ingredients into finished products, looking for possible hazards of a biological, physical, and chemical nature) and company safety programs, provide training resources and crisis management related to feed production, FeedAssure and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS). The successful candidate will be directly responsible for employees, including hire/fire, career development, and training and performance management.

Reporting to the Feed Director, responsibilities for this position include the following:

1. Direct and monitor the implementation and maintenance of our FeedAssure and quality control programs.
2. Ensure all department and company safety programs are implemented and monitored.
3. Manage and maintain a feed plant front end computer file (AGRIS).
4. Direct purchasing activities to ensure adequate ingredients are available for manufacturing feed products within guidelines.
5. Develop annual sales, production expenses and the sales and administration budget.
6. Direct supervision of Feed Mill Supervisor and front end staff.
7. Work with Plant Supervisor to plan and develop capital expenditure requirements.
8. Evaluate and verify the departments feed safety program to ensure compliance with OHS, COR and SMS.
9. Analyze monthly expense reports for the plant and follow up.

The successful candidate will have, at minimum, a diploma (preference for Agriculture) and 5 to 7 years of experience in sales or manufacturing.  A knowledge base in livestock and grain would be considered an asset as well as any occupational health and safety courses or Enterprise Risk Management experience.
