Reporting to the Retail Facilities Development Director, responsibilities for this position include the following:
1. Co-ordinate and review designs of proposed sites and facilities to ensure they meet municipal and building code requirements and recommend the most cost effective building type to FCL and retails.
2. Estimate construction costs for retail feasibilities, analyze & update actual costs to budget before a project proceeds to construction including recommended changes to building design and specifications. Provide cost control by comparing feasibility costs to projected costs based on tenders throughout the course of a project.
3. Review and evaluate construction drawings (blueprints) to ensure they meet FCL standards and operational requirements and identify errors and omissions.
4. Provide owner project management services on behalf of retails and FCL. Co-ordinate all parties to achieve the successful execution of the project. This includes regular site visits to review progress, ensure contractor adherence to FCL specifications and lead monthly project meetings.
5. Prepare design build project tender packages complete with site development, building specifications and standard details. Coordinate tenders with contractors including issuing addendums.
6. Lead site planning, review municipal regulations and easement agreements; negotiate and review development and building permits.
7. Inspect existing retail facilities to determine if it is practical and feasible to renovate or be demolished or sold and a new facility constructed.
8. Provide advice to other FCL staff and retails regarding construction inquiries, facility maintenance and building concerns such as structural issues.
Qualifications:
-Civil Engineering degree.
-5-7 years of construction project management experience.
-Professional Engineer (P. Eng).
-An understanding of commercial construction processes, contract administration and building codes.
