Are you passionate about community development? The Al Ritchie Community Association (ARCA) is seeking an energetic Executive Director who can engage community members and work cooperatively with the ARCA board and stakeholders to deliver programs that strengthen our community.
With full and part-time staff, our association delivers programs, services, and events to the residents through grants from a variety of funding agencies. ARCA is a unionized workplace with the exception of the Executive Director.
The purpose of ARCA is to serve the community-based needs of our residents. Aligning limited resources with a high demand for varied services requires a strategic, long-term, and focused approach to management and an ability to use outcome measures to evaluate the programs. The Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring the viability of the organization and that it meets its community and legal obligations.
Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of ARCA's operations. The Executive Director meets this responsibility by following sound financial management practices, ensuring compliance with Board directives and policies, and ensuring all legal obligations are met. This includes preserving ARCA's position as a non-profit charitable organization according to all municipal, provincial, and federal laws.
The specific responsibilities of the Executive Director can be broken into five key areas:
1. Operational & financial management;
2. Board and volunteer relations;
3. Community (public) relations;
4. Identifying and working with funding agencies; and
5. Strategic leadership.
Our ideal candidate would have a related educational background supplemented by several years of experience at the management level in a non-profit sector. The Board is looking for candidates with strong financial and operational management experience and an excellent track record of community engagement.
