Description

The Town of Eston is looking to fill a full time, permanent Superintendent of Public Works position. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position, known as the Town Foreman, is a management position and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Public Works operations. On call work is required. A comprehensive benefits package and competitive salary is provided. Training and professional development is available.

Duties
-Oversee and coordinate day to day operation, maintenance and safety of all public works functions.
-Supervise, hire, mentor, train and manage performance of staff within the department.
-Develop and implement a coordinated plan for routine maintenance and upkeep of property, grounds and equipment.
-Develop long term plans for equipment replacement, street maintenance and utility upgrading.
-Provide written and verbal reports to council at regular meetings.
-Work with the public works and landfill committees on long term planning and policy development.
-Work with the public and community groups to respond to inquiries, address concerns and ensure the betterment of the community.
-Assist with the development of the annual budgets and manage day to day expenditures.
-Work closely with the CAO, council and other departments on policies, procedure, bylaws and project management.
-Operate and maintain equipment and provide relief for utilities, recycling and other operations as required.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license, experience managing staff and budgets, experience operating large equipment and experience in the public works sector or a related sector. The candidate will also have or be willing to obtain a Level 2 Water Treatment Operator Certificate, a class 3A driver's license with air brake endorsement, pesticide certification, and safety training. Physical capability to lift heavy objects and operate machinery is required.
