Primary purpose
To contribute to continuous improvement in providing safety leadership, advice and support to the project/s in support of the HSEC and project strategy.

Qualifications
Degree Bachelors degree in Health, Safety or Environment and a post graduate qualifications in relevant studies
8-10 years experience in mining or large engineering construction projects
Other Training / Certification:
Radiation Safety Officer
Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification
Canadian Register Safety Professional (preferred)
Requirement:
Knowledge of best practices in safety, safety systems and processes, and radiation protection, with an intimate knowledge of Athabasca Basin uranium operations and Rio Tinto operations in other parts of the world
Solid experience in a Safety / HSEC role, in the resource sector with relevant experience in the Athabasca Basin and in at least one other operation/business within the Rio Tinto portfolio (ideally in a key market such as China) with a focus on the following:
Creating and Implementing HSEC processes
Implementing practical Safety services and solutions
Maintaining and improving HSEC systems, data and information
Developing and implementing radiation protection programs
