Job Summary:
WORKING CLOSELY WITH A RANGE OF KEY INTERNAL AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS IN SASKATOON HEALTH REGION (SHR), THE POLICY ANALYST/KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE SPECIALIST PLAYS A PIVOTAL ROLE IN SUPPORTING THE PUBLIC HEALTH OBSERVATORY DEPARTMENT (PHO) MANDATE OF EVIDENCE, ACTION, EQUITY. THE POSITION PLAYS A KEY LEADERSHIP ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF EVIDENCE-INFORMED RECOMMENDATIONS FOR POLICIES, PROGRAMS AND STRATEGIC DECISIONS THAT LEAD TO IMPROVED POPULATION HEALTH OUTCOMES AND HEALTH EQUITY IN OUR REGION. WITH A PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE PHO WORK ON REDUCING HEALTH INEQUITIES, THE INDIVIDUAL WILL BE WORKING CLOSELY WITH FIRST NATION AND MTIS PARTNERS AND COMMUNITIES.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 (two) years related experience working with communities and organizations who represent various cultures, particularly First Nation and/or Mtis, and socio-economic backgrounds in our Region.

Demonstrated experience in policy analysis, and knowledge translation/exchange in a health or social services environment would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:
Master Degree in health, social sciences, or other equivalent field.
Valid Class 5 drivers license

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to communicate with and maintain an effective working relationship with clients from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Assessment skills
Change management skills
Communication skills
Computer skills including Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheets, email and internet

Other Information:
NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all HSAS members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 21.02 and 21.04 of the HSAS Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the Saskatoon Health Region and its affiliated agencies.
