DUTIES:
- Assess settlement and integration needs of each client, assist with coordination of appropriate in depth supports and provide referrals to community resources
- Assist newcomers in developing their Settlement Plans and completion within agreed time frame
- Provide crisis management support to newcomers
- Provide cultural education to non-settlement service provider
- Conduct one on one orientation sessions to newcomers on topics such as housing, education, transportation, employment and child care
- Arrange tours of the community resources
- Build and maintain relationships with referral sources and community agencies
- Maintain records through use of client database
- Prepare reports for submission to Settlement Senior Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in human service field or equivalent professional designation
- Proven experience in working with immigrants and/or being a newcomer to Canada
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written including presentation skills
- Knowledge of community resources
- Able to speak other language/s would be an asset
- Proficient computer skills
- Class 5 driver's licence and must have a reliable vehicle
