Description

The Saskatoon Branch of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan requires a Full-Time Live-In Mentor.
The mentor is a live-in position which is responsible for the youth in the home from 10:00pm to 10:00am Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday.
As a Mentor, you are responsible to Manager of Residential Services or his/her designate with the John Howard Society, Saskatoon Branch. You will assist in the development and delivery of a residential program for five at risk youth facing a variety of challenges.

Job Duties/Requirements
1.  You must be willing to live in the house with the youth and treat this as your primary residence.
2.  You must be able to build healthy relationships with youth and Caseworkers.
3.  Must be a healthy, positive role model and contribute to an atmosphere of safety and trust in the home.
4.  Must be able to work with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the John Howard Society.
5.  Must have working knowledge of the power-sharing model or experience mentoring and/or parenting skills.
6.  Must actively participate to assist youth as they learn basic life skills such as: personal hygiene, cooking, shopping and budgeting as it promotes growth and independence.
7.  Encourage youth to share in all responsibilities associated with managing and maintaining a home.
8.  Promote independent problem solving and decision making skills.
9.  Actively participate in chores, maintenance of the home, monthly fire drills, youth logs and provide documentation when needed..

Qualifications
1. Completion of some postsecondary education
2. Possess a Valid Drivers License
3. Submit a Criminal Record Check
4. Submit a Child Welfare Check
5. Must have CPR and First Aid
