Description

Position Summary:
The manager has direct supervision of the SPCA Shelter animal care staff and facility management. The position is responsible for overseeing data base entry of all incoming and outgoing guests and maintenance of a file system as well as assisting with the coordination of all repairs and maintenance to building and grounds, and vehicles. Oversee activities such as: animal protection, adoption and retail, booking in animals, feeding and cleaning of animals, giving medications, and other animal care related duties. Some bookkeeping as well as computer input and reports using the Shelter Buddy program are required. The hours are Monday to Friday  8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Manager of Operations will work closely with Executive Director, and other members of SPCA management team to promote the values of the SPCA and provide top quality animal care in an environment of compassion and customer service.  

Qualifications and Skills:
Ensure the effective operation of the SPCA shelter including care of animals and building and grounds maintenance
Hiring and selection of SPCA Shelter staff, scheduling hours, training, evaluating, and performance management.
Final decision maker concerning euthanasia, transfers, rehoming and adoptions of animals.
Ensure the safety and security of animals and staff within the SPCA Shelter at all times.
Oversee the maintenance and operation of the crematorium.  
Participate in offsite events as a representative of the SPCA
Responsible individual, committed to the mission of the Prince Albert SPCA.
Combination of experience or training in human resource management and previous supervisory experience.
Education and/or experience in animal care and handling a definite asset
Must be physically capable and able to carry out job duties in an efficient and thorough manner
Must have valid drivers license and transportation. Must be bondable
