Summer Student will work alongside skilled staff within a community based organization providing physical, emotional, spiritual and personal supports to participants, including assisting in recreational activities and outings.
By following the established person-centred plan programs, provide support to clients in a manner that maximizes their potential and quality of life.
Summer Students will gain skills, knowledge and awareness relating to the human services field.
This position is for 16 weeks between May 1st and September 10th of the same calendar year.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Assisting groups of individuals with developmental disabilities in recreational, social & leisure activities, going on trips, and attending events; assist with person centred plan programs.
Summer Student will work alongside regular team members providing care, assistance, coaching, and motivating participants, etc. as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must exhibit a positive attitude and maintain high level of confidentiality. Must have good organizational and communication skills. Eligible criteria of a Summer Student must be met, i.e. must be between 15-30 years old, registered as a full time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full time basis in the next academic year. Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident and legally entitled to work in Canada.
