Description

Basic Functions:
This position is responsible for assisting in the managing of environmental, safety and health processes and providing leadership for all matters related to employee safety and health. Support manufacturing personnel to ensure that systems are in place to drive continuous improvement in employee safety programs.

Responsibilities:
1. Help to develop and implement programs/procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce EH&S hazards associated with plant operations.
2. Assist in the development, implementation and compliance of policies, programs, processes and procedures regarding health and safety and environment.
3. Help develop, conduct and coordinate EH&S training and communication programs in accordance with corporate and plant standards.
4. Organize meetings and assist in preparing reports, information and presentations for the site OH&S Committee.
5. Participate in incident investigation, determine root causes and follow-up on corrective actions.
6. Cooperate with the Workers Compensation Board by assisting in the organization and the follow-up of Light/Graduated Return-to-Work placements.
7. Is disciplined in 5S, safety, quality and environment and demonstrates a desire to follow systems and procedures consistently.
8. Perform environmental, health and safety inspections in various cost centers in the plant.
9. Perform risk assessments and risk prediction as required as required for safety concerns and safety projects.

Qualifications:
1. Completion of a post secondary education in either Operation Management or in Environmental, Health and Safety is preferred. A combination of other related education backgrounds and experience may be considered.
2. Strong written and oral communication skills.
3. Proficient in the use of a PC, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel, Power Point & Outlook.
4. Good analytical and problem solving skills.
5. Strong organizational and planning abilities.
