The Coordinator of Literacy and Early Learning has within their portfolio:
- the training and professional learning of teachers in literacy assessment, intervention and pedagogy;
- the support of school leaders in the development of literacy plans, the collection and interpretation of school data, and literacy support for pedagogy and intervention practices;
- support with parent communities and partners;
- the development and support of early learning assessments, intervention supports, and literacy programming development and implementation within the early learning philosophy.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Education, the Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Senior Leadership team of Horizon School Division to develop a strategic literacy long-range plan which will focus on early intervention of at-risk students as well as promoting literacy growth and excellence for all learners.
