Description

The City of Swift Current Museum is accepting applications for the position of Collections Officer. This is a full-time out of scope position reporting to the Museum Director.  In this position you will be responsible for collections management and care  accessions, loans, research and preventative conservation for a diverse natural and human history collection and archives. Other duties include enhancing public knowledge of local and regional history through research requests, displays, exhibitions and programs at the museum and in the community.      

Basic Requirements:
. Post-secondary degree in History or Museum Studies (preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in collections management);
. Must possess excellent organizational, public relations, written and oral communication skills;
. A good working knowledge of Microsoft office; a virtual collections database and a graphic design program (e.g. Photoshop);
. Experience in research and grant writing training; and
. The ability to lift 12 kg including moving animal specimens, hanging artwork
and carrying arefacts up and down stairs.

Desirable Requirements:
. Training in mount-making for storage and exhibitions;
. Training in archival description, preservation and digitization;
. Training in cultural resource management; and
. Work experience in a museum, including the care of museum collections (photographs, textiles, metal, furniture & etc.).

The salary range for this position is $41,100.99 to $49,075.75 and is currently under review. The City offers an attractive benefits package and pension plan.
