Description

Term of Employment: Full-time Term (Approx. 14 months)

Duties: The LCSC Manager is responsible for managing the LCSC operations, exhibition programs, education programs, retail sales, community outreach, collections management and basic conservation of all the artifacts and archival collections of the LCSC.  The LCSC is dedicated to preserve, interpret and increase public understanding of its ongoing heritage, cultural & heavy oil science collection.

The LCSC Manager is also responsible for managing public partnerships with local groups involved in the arts/heritage/culture/oil science of the region.

The Manager also supervises LCSC employees in their day-to-day work and is responsible for all administrative functions, including budgeting, and providing reports to senior management as well as to Council.

Qualifications:
A Degree or Diploma in Museum Studies, History, Material Culture, or relevant field is preferred along with a minimum of 1 year experience working in a public museum.  Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset.
Must have experience and knowledge in museum standards and best practices, exhibitions, cataloguing, conservation and storage practices
Excellent interpersonal skills, professional and tactful in dealings with donors, volunteers and the public
Experience with community work, historic interpretation, and knowledge of material culture (how to look at and understand objects)
Must be able to speak and write effectively for the public and for individuals across cultures where English may not be a first language
Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Must be able to provide and maintain a clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector check.
Must have access to a vehicle for travel throughout the City
