The Park Service Worker under general direction from the Lands & Economic Development Manager; the incumbent ensures the operation and maintenance of the Pihtikwakew Sakahikan Park.
Duties:
Collection of camping, boating, fishing and other associated fees.
Provide safe fire fuel reduction activities by clearing, felling, spacing and pruning trees.
Cutting of grass with machinery, weed-eaters and push lawn mowers; horticulture tasks such as planting and maintaining flowers and shrub beds; vegetation management; general facility servicing.
Move and transport waste and materials
Load and unload materials from service vehicles
Operate small power equipment such as: push lawn mowers, trimmers, edger?s rototillers, power saws and brush cutters.
Use tools such as shovels, rakes, stake pounders, and small hand tools
Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
Minimum of a Grade Twelve education or equivalency is required but will look at other grade level depending on availability of positions.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License is an asset.
First Aid Certification would also be an asset.
Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments.
Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Good physical condition and able to perform heavy manual labour.
The successful candidate will also possess exceptional hospitality service skills.
