Kikinahk Friendship Centre in partnership with Northern Special Needs and Churchill Community High School has the following four month term position available:
Garden and Physical Activity Coordinator
This position will be responsible for setting up a small community garden plot, running weekly programming for youth with and without cognitive disabilities, running evening adult garden programming, and leading and supporting golf and athletics activities for people with cognitive disabilities.
The successful candidate will have:
- Valid driver's license
- Valid First Aid/ CPR (or willing to certify)
- Vulnerable sector criminal record check
- Completed registration for Special Olympics volunteer
- Knowledge in environmental subjects such as composting, raised bed construction, raised bed gardening, and garden maintenance
- Experience working with people with cognitive disabilities
- Ability to offer inclusive programming for people with any type of ability
- Interest in providing and promoting Special Olympics including golf and athletics
- Organizational skills: candidate will be expected to organize events, weekly programming, participation, and other activities
- Creativity and self-motivation is essential!
- Communication skills: interpersonal and written reports will be required at end of the term.
- Reporting to management at Kikinahk and with partners will be required. Submission of written documentation including numbers of participants, activities/lessons, outcomes, follow up with next objectives.
Position will be approximately 25hrs/week from May 5 to August 21. Wage is $20-25/hr.
