The Wind on My Wings Sailing Club for people with disabilities is looking for energetic people who enjoy recreation, being outdoors and supporting people to be part of the community!

Who is the Wind on My Wings (WOW) Sailing Club?
The Wind on My Wings (WOW) accessible sailing club supports individuals who have varying disabilities to participate in the unique opportunity of sailing through the use of adaptive equipment and human supports on Wascana Lake in Regina.  

What would you do as a Companion Sailor?
Sail!  Companion Sailors provide support to sailors with disabilities by riding along on the accessible sailboat, helping out with the various ropes, gadgets and contraptions used to sail and assisting with learning the art of sailing.  Companion Sailors also help people get into and out of the sailboats and with the set up and take down of equipment.  

Do you need to know anything about sailing?
No! While some knowledge of sailing would be a benefit, you don'tt need to know how to sail to be a Companion Sailor  we will provide training.  

What qualifications and skills do you need to have?
Firstly, you need to be comfortable around water.  You also need to have adequate balance, strength and mobility to effectively and safely assist with transferring people and to be on the sailboat with WOW sailors.  To help people learn about sailing, you should be able to effectively communicate with and provide instruction to adults with varying levels of skill, comprehension and memory.  Lastly, you must love to have fun!

When would you work?
Hours and times vary depending on programming, scheduling and weather.
