David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit an Estimator based in Saskatoon.

The Role:

Assists or lead estimating team with bid preparations on large commercial projects. Work closely with the project team for the duration of project to monitor accuracy of estimate.
Major responsibilities to include:

Detailed quantity survey on self-performed work and portions of complex projects
Performing surveys, coordinating similar items with other estimators
Performing pricing of direct-cost items
Completion of bid day assignments. Take bids and analyze bid recaps
Communicating issues/ questions encountered during bid process
Soliciting subcontractors, suppliers, specified manufacturers and monitor responses
Detailing specification and drawing reviews
Reviewing estimate and documents with estimating team
Distributing bid documents to subs and suppliers
Reviewing assigned areas of responsibility
Placing sub bid request ads and minority bid ads
Assisting in setting up alternates and unit prices
Attending pre-bid site visits
Transferring "will bid" subs and suppliers to recaps
Reviewing labor costs and production
Updating subcontractor solicitation list

The Ideal Candidate:

5 - 7 years' experience in commercial and civil estimation, as well as light industrial, is an asset
Certified Quantity Surveyor; Civil Engineer or Technologist
Concrete estimating is desirable
Must be able to survey - or have a working knowledge of surveying
