SASKATCHEWAN INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGIES
Full-time/Term Instructor, Process Operation Technician Program
Competition #: I-0199

The Process Operation Technician (POT) Program Instructor will be responsible for delivering the SIIT two-year program. This program is designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills to become process operators in a wide range of processing industries. Graduates will receive the SIIT Process Operation Technician diploma and will write provincial exams for the Saskatchewan 4th Class Power Engineering licence. As well, learners will achieve certification in safety courses related to the industry.
These include the following broad areas of accountabilities:
o    Deliver courses relating to the POT curriculum
o    Complete all course-required materials including evaluations, attendance records and course evaluations
o    Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress within set time frames
o    Ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment
o    Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures
o    Maintain classroom and shop discipline and, if necessary, recommend action to applicable supervisor regarding student behavior, including formal student disciplinary action
o    Make recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum and evaluation procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:
Power Engineering cert.(min. 3rd class) w/related work experience; work experience in process operating is considered an asset. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of a First Nations language or culture, and experience teaching Aboriginal Adults would be considered assets.
