Description

Specific Duties Include:
- Ensure that the teachers in the ML First Nation schools have the opportunity to obtain the necessary in-service training to properly implement the diagnostic/sequential skill components of Math, and the new Science curriculum.
- Provide assistance/support to math and science teachers in planning/developing instruction methods, and pilot projects and activities.
- Familiar with the gradual release of responsibility coaching model
- Familiar with common formative assessment, assessment for learning, co-constructing criteria
- Review, promote and inform of any MLTC Office of Education initiatives to the ML First Nation schools and communities.
- Provide leadership in the evaluation of program implementation plans and activities.
- Will travel extensively to the ML First Nation schools for on-site consultations.
- Other duties assigned by the MLTC Math Coordinator.
    
Qualifications:       
- Bachelor's Degree in Education; Master's Degree or commitment to begin studies appropriate to the Math/Science field in Education.
- Minimum five (5) years of teaching experience in the K-9 classroom setting.
- Saskatchewan Teachers 'A' Certification or the ability to obtain such standing.
- Training and/or experience with diagnostic/benchmark tests in Math is a valuable asset; experience teaching Science to high school students is also considered an asset.
- Experience of how to use formative assessments.
- Experience in working with First Nations' Schools & Communities.
- Willing to travel to the First Nation Communities; work within a team setting and independently.
- Excellent communication skills (Verbal/Written); decision making skills; professional judgment skills: and organizational/time-management skills.  
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in computer software applications (i.e. Microsoft-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.).
