SUMMARY: The Kahkewistahaw First Nation is seeking a highly enthusiastic committed individual to fill the position of Lands Pasture Manager at Kahkewistahaw First Nation. The Pasture Manager is a position that is supervised by the Lands Manager. He/she will be responsible for the pasture rider and ensure that the duties, principles, rules and structure that apply to Kahkewistahaw Lands and Resources and by which the Kahkewistahaw First Nation will be fulfilled in accordance with the First Nations Lands Management Act.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work experience in managing pastures & supervision of employee(s)
- Good working experience riding horses and handling cattle
- Good communication skills (written and oral) to effectively deal with employee(s), staff & general public
- Able to work independently & cooperatively as a team member
- Good organizational skills, excellent multi-tasking & decision making
- Valid driver's license, own a reliable vehicle
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Care for livestock in pasture by administering medication; preparing livestock oilers for & setting out salt/mineral blocks
- Handle livestock, roping from horseback
- Monitor feed & water levels & reporting to Lands Manager daily
- Move & sort livestock for branding, vaccinating, rotating to other areas of pasture, returning livestock to owner
- Perform repairs/maintenance on pasture corrals, fences, buildings & equipment
- Maintain accurate records of medication to livestock & operate farm equipment
- Provide, obtain & exchange clear, accurate information with clients, department staff & public
- Able to take direction
