Description

Horizon School Division is accepting applications for two full-time Literacy Coaches. These positions will be part of a team that drives literacy support for students and staff in all schools.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Literacy & Early Learning, we are seeking two (2) passionate Literacy Coaches to work with teachers and school teams in building capacity to meet the literacy needs of all learners. The focus is to provide a system wide common understanding in relation to effective researched based instructional, assessment and intervention practices, within schools and between schools, which is aligned with the Divisions focus on Literacy, Safe & Caring and Assessment.

The Person
You are energetic, with a strong work ethic, and have an intense focus on creating a student centered learning environment.  You are passionate about top quality, instruction, assessment and intervention to meet the literacy needs of all students. You are detail orientated; yet you can also see the big picture and how multiple elements of school life fit together. Your positive attitude is infectious and you both recognize your own strengths and have an ability to help others see and leverage theirs.

The Literacy Coach leadership/support will become part of an ongoing professional development process through which school leaders, classroom teachers and school teams deepen their literacy understanding, instructional practice, and assessment strategies to meet the literacy needs of all students.

Qualifications:
    Saskatchewan Professional A Teaching Certificate, or willingness to acquire;
    Successful teaching experience in Elementary and/or High School;
    Extensive knowledge of teaching Reading/Literacy instruction, assessment and intervention practices at various grade levels
