Description

This position will provide critical support, oversight and evaluation of accounting processes, systems and functions for MLTC II's subsidiaries in order to streamline and improve activities and ensure data is accurate and up-to-date.

Key Responsibilities include:

-Perform month-end duties including balance sheet account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, variance analysis and other reports.
-Contribute to preparation of bank reporting and consolidated financial statements.  
-Identify and resolve roadblocks that impede completion of month-end on a timely basis.
-Prepare cash flow forecasts, monitor bank balances and cash requirements.
-Evaluate accounting functions and internal control processes, making recommendations for improvement.
-Identify value-added capabilities of existing software not being utilized and implement.
-Ensure compliance with Government regulations - GST, PST and Payroll.  
-Assist with annual budget preparation and contribute financial information to strategic plans and reviews.
-Support annual audit by providing information to auditors.
-Review existing inventory and purchase order systems; establish procedures, implement and monitor systems where needed.
-Indirect supervision of accounting staff's activities at the subsidiaries.
-Provide back-up support for finance position vacancies within the subsidiaries.

Qualifications

-A diploma or bachelor's degree in accounting, supplemented by a minimum of five years relevant work experience.
-An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
-Preference will be given to individuals with public practice and industry experience.
-A Chartered Professional Accountant designation is considered an asset.
