DUTIES:
The Recreation Programmer will plan, schedule, deliver, and evaluate programs and special events. The position will liaise with all community volunteer groups; will assist with facility bookings and registrations as well as implementing marketing strategies. The applicant will prepare invoicing, contracts and oversee training of staff. This position does involve some shift work, including evenings and weekends. The applicant will also perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant has completed a post-secondary degree in Recreation, Education, Event Planning or in a directly related discipline together with relevant experience within a recreation/cultural planning environment. The applicant must have a valid class 5 drivers license and access to a personal vehicle. Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are required. Experience in a computerized environment is essential to this position. Qualifications and experience in event planning as well as educational programming experience in arts and heritage would be considered an asset.
Applicants possessing a post-secondary degree or related 2 year diploma would be placed at a Recreation Programmer 2 level. Applicants not possessing a post-secondary degree or related 2 year diploma would be placed at a Recreation Programmer 1 level.
