Description

Under the direction of the Health Director, the Brighter Futures Coordinator will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenence of a wellness program for the community of Standing Buffalo Dakota Band, families, youth, and children. The duties will include the following:
-Liaison for referral services for children and youth that require formal assisstance and support services.
-Provide supervision and monitor young offenders living within the community of Standing Buffalo Dakota Band, while maintaining confidential records of contact.
-Undertaking administrative tasks, maintaining effective recording systems and responding accordingly.
-Assessing the needs of young people and planning and delivering prgrams related to areas such as health, fitness, smoking, drugs, gangs, violence, relationships, and bullying.
-Regularly monitoring and reviewing the quality of the local youth and children.
-Running arts-based activities, community/environmental projects, outdoor education and sporting activities.
-Working in partnership with professionals from other organizations that support young people such as social care, health, police, education, youth offending teams, and local authorities.
-Attending and contributing to multi-agency meeting that brings together practitioners from different sectors as part of a team supporting family and holistic approach.
-Mentoring, coaching, and supporting to facilitate personal, social, and educational growth in young people as well as encouraging greater social inclusion.
-Identifying and pursuing sources of funding for projectes to improve services and/or resources for young people.
-Drawing up work-plans, writing reports, and making formal presentations to funding bodies.

PREFERRED SKILLS
The ideal candidate will be literate in computer skills, knowledge of Dakota traditions and culture would be an asset, proven experience in working with children and youth, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
