YORKTON PUBLIC LIBRARY JOB POSTING
SUMMER PROGRAM ASSISTANT
JUNE 15 TO AUGUST 31, 2015.
The Yorkton Public Library has an opening for a university student or a high school student, between the ages of 15 and 30, who is familiar with and enjoys working with children of all ages.
He/she will be working with small and large groups of children and handling the daily activities of the PLAY! @ your library Summer Reading Program.
Under the direction of the Children's Programmer, the successful applicant will:
Implement and facilitate educational and recreational activities;
Work with YPL staff to develop and deliver programs and training to volunteers and community organizations;
Promote the summer programs;
Supervise children attending programs and promote safety and respect amongst participants;
Maintain appropriate records and evaluations
Qualifications:
Relevant education and/or work experience in education or related field, with an emphasis on
working with children and youth;
Program planning and facilitation experience is an asset;
Good communication skills, written and verbal;
Good organizational and time management skills;
Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
The successful applicant should also have experience with computers, word processing programs, Internet and social networking sites. Having a musical or drama background, and an interest in art and crafts would be an asset .
Manual labour may be involved.
The position is for 35 hours a week.
The salary is $14.00/an hour.
