Outside Claims Adjuster
The Outside Adjuster will be primarily responsible for ensuring that all claims are handled promptly and efficiently, within corporate guidelines and practices, while working simultaneously with our insureds, brokers, vendors, and third parties to ensure superior claims service. The successful applicant will have three to five years of claims or related insurance experience to take on the role of coordinating and adjusting property and liability claims.
Key Responsibilities
Ensures prompt and equitable settlement of claims as per established procedures, practices and authority levels.
Investigates losses through utilizing various research activities and also evaluating damages which may include reviewing reports from experts and/or vendors.
Negotiate settlements directly with insureds, other adjusters, claimants or other intermediaries.
Work directly with and respond to queries from our brokerage community to provide and maintain quality service with respects to the claims handling process.
Evaluate, analyze and interpret policy wordings in order to determine coverage applicable to the loss.
Provide regular claims updates and status reports to Management
Qualifications
3-5 Years of claims handling or related insurance experience
Post-secondary Degree/Diploma/Certificate is preferred
CIP Designation (or in progress)
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with a focus on customer service and customer management
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks and responsibilities efficiently and effectively
A self starter with strong planning and organization skills
Analytical and detail oriented
Strong computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel); knowledge of Xactimate would be a definite asset
Ability to work in a variety of settings including an office and physical sites where damages/losses have occurred
Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
