The Senior Financial Accountant is the most senior financial officer in their particular area of responsibility and is accountable for the ongoing financial operations of that area (accounts receivable, payables, budget and reporting) and has signing authority to review, verify and approve transactions. The Senior Financial Accountant prepares timely and accurate financial reports, and regular maintenance of operating and capital budgets and works in collaboration with department heads, SAHO, government agencies, financial institutions, Canada Revenue Agency in regard to financial matters. Communicates and interprets financial results, prepares reports for the organization and works with the various departments to develop monthly forecasting reports and the annual budget.
University degree and a professional accounting designation (CPA), plus three years experience in accounting and financial systems; and
Ability to communicate with a cross section of employees and managers, both in writing and verbally, in presentations and one on one situations
Ability to manage conflict in real time and focus on problem solving.
Ability to manage time and set personal goals and priorities to achieve department results.
Ability to work as a team member
Advanced accounting skills
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Knowledge of lean processes would be considered an asset.
