Description

Great Plains College is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic instructor for our Youth Care Worker program at the Warman Campus.  The instructor will plan, organize and implement instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages learners to develop and fulfil their academic potential.  The courses available for instruction are HLTH183  Health Promotion in Youth Care, MGMT193  Behaviour Supports in Youth Care, YCW188  Therapeutic Activities, YCW284  Addictions, COMM291  Interpersonal Communications, HUMD188  Human Growth and Development.  Candidates are welcome to apply in whole or in part of this assignment.
    
Position Details - Term
Start date:  September 3, 2015
End date:  March 18, 2016
Total Contact hours:  265 hrs.
Total Contract hours:  291.5 hrs.

Duties include:
Plan and prepare to instruct each day and present course material in a clear and comprehensible manner
Instruct theory, exercises and activities which meet learning objectives outlined for this program
Demonstrate application of subject material in the world of work and in everyday life.
Meet with the program coordinator to discuss student and program related issues
Classroom Management
Student Assessment and Needs Identification
Resource Management

Qualifications:
-Bachelor of Education with classes dealing with the exceptional child or equivalent combination of education, training and experience or a four year degree in Special Education, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation
-Excellent organization skills
-Strong attention to detail
-Preference will be given to individuals who understand the principles of adult education
-Two or more years of recent experience teaching or relevant work experience
-Demonstrates valuing diversity
