Description

Database Administration and Support:
Plan, coordinate and deliver database services including system design, software installation, upgrades, maintenance, backup, recovery, performance and tuning, monitoring, testing and problem resolution.
Develop automated processes in support of cloud database and platform services.
Create and maintain general operational and support procedures for database systems.
Maintain expert knowledge of database software enhancements, new features, new versions and how they contribute to customers business needs.
Implement automated processes to exceed customer needs and improve efficiency.
Participate in disaster recovery tests for database products & environments.
Interface with database software vendors as required for problem resolution.
Engage with ITIL based operational practices.
Assist in establishing, documenting and maintaining database software standards, policies and procedures.
Provide expert support for integrating commercial and customer applications with databases.

QUALIFICATIONS:
University Degree, or diploma from a two year program in Computer Science/Data Processing, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training, plus 7 - 9 years knowledge of systems concepts.
In-depth knowledge of system management, analysis and design techniques; current operating systems and environments; supported products and services in Systems Operations.
Strong problem determination and resolution skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to design, cost, and implement solutions and demonstrate a high degree of originality and ingenuity in devising new approaches.
Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills including a mature professional attitude.
Skills and abilities acceptable to the client.
