Description

OVERVIEW:
The Control System Specialist (CSS) is a support role reporting to the Regional Control System Specialist, ensuring process and systems improvement from a control and visualization point of view.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY:
Participate in the development of the divisional strategic plan
Develop and maintain a 5 year control system and optimization strategy
Find and research new technologies applicable to this industry
Operate in a safe manner in accordance to work safe rules, regulations, and policies
Recognize and eliminate all safety hazards
Maintain a good working knowledge of manufacturing equipment from an optimization, controls and mechanical point of view
Manage control system projects
Maintain and back up of all programs associated to this duty function
Provide assistance, support and training to electrical personnel
Work closely with IT
Exercise a flexible schedule in support of the 24-hour operation
Support and explore innovative ideas that further Tolkos strategic plan
Recommend to the production department methods to improve safety, quality, throughput and uptime
Lead / participate in continuous improvement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a two year Engineering Technologist diploma or four year Engineering degree

3-5 years experience

Aptitude with mechanical systems including pneumatics and hydraulics; Reading texts; document use; numeracy; writing; oral communication; working with others; problem solving; decision making; critical thinking; job task planning and organizing; significant use of memory; finding information; computer and computer program use; continuous learning. Ability to communicate in verbal and written English essential.
