Facility: ST PAUL'S HOSPITAL
Job Description: The individual in this position provides culturally sensitive spiritual care to aboriginal patients, family members and staff members at St. Paul's Hospital. The job involves providing support through visitation, prayers, ceremonies and presence. The job requires making first contact with patients and families upon hospitalization and offer support to them.

Experience
Past experience in the health care setting.
Experience in working with people in crisis and at end of life.
Experience in dealing with people with addiction issues, emotional and mental health issues, as well as serious physical injury and illness.
Experience in participating and leading aboriginal ceremonies.
Recognition by the community as a Cultural Leader or resource is necessary.
The individual must have a compassionate personality and a deep desire to serve the needs of aboriginal and first nations individuals.
The individual should be a practioner of traditional culture and sprituality
The ability to work with people in conflict would be valuable and signficant.
Significant knowledge of aboriginal culture and spiritual practice is necessary, as well as experience and/or training in counselling and/or emotional support to those in crisis.
Training in spiritual care would be very valuable.
The individual must be a self starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
The ability to meet new people and to instigate conversation is necessary.
Our clients seldom come to us for care and it is imperative that the worker be willing and able to initiate contact with people in the facility.
