The Journeyperson Carpenter, under the direction of the Facilities Manager, is responsible for building, restoring and/or installing of structural woodwork and related materials. This position requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry. Specifically the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety associated with this industry. The Journeymen Carpenter must be proficient at the following tasks: trim work, layout for stairs and common rafters, reading blueprints, and must possess mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.
The minimum qualifications/requirements for this position are a Red Seal Carpentry Ticket and more than two (2) years of experience as a Journeyperson Carpenter. The successful candidate must be prepared to schedule hours of work according to the demands of the position which may include occasional evenings and weekends (i.e. field hours scheduled by the supervisor) and must be willing to travel occasionally including overnight stays, air travel, and travel on gravel roads.
