Description

Under the supervision of the Community Recreation Coordinator, the Youth and Aquatics Supervisor assists in planning, organizing, and delivering Base/Wing/Unit recreation, youth, and aquatic activities.   He/she assists with the development/organization and delivery of registered and drop-in recreation and youth programs.  The Youth and Aquatics Supervisor is required to supervise and instruct aquatic training sessions, prepare employee work schedules and supervise employees.  He/she recommends improvements to Base/Wing/Unit aquatic, youth, and community recreation programs and assists with developing and updating policies and procedures.  He/she will also perform administrative duties for aquatics, youth and recreation programs, fundraising and sponsorship programs as well as financial administrative duties.

Qualifications:
College diploma or certificate in Physical Sciences, or a related field, AND some years of experience in aquatics programs, or a related field
Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
Current National Lifeguard Service Certificate (NLS) qualifications
Current Red Cross Instructor/Lifesaving Society Advance Instructor
Current Red Cross/Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer (Asset)
Successful completion of the Principles of Health Child Development and Quest 2 certification, HIGH FIVE, by the end of probation.

Experience Requirements:
In evaluating, planning and organizing the delivery of recreation, aquatic and youth programs
In instructing aquatic training sessions
In applying policies, procedures and regulations
In supervising personnel
In supervising the work of volunteers
In office administration
In drafting and distributing correspondence
In reservation systems, an asset
In using software for publications and promotional correspondence
In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing
