Job Description & Responsibilities
The Environmental Manager reports to the Director Environmental Affairs Canada. The successful candidate will be an experienced in project manager who possesses strong site remediation skills and is knowledgeable in environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, licenses and environmental system requirements for Canadian operations
Provide technical knowledge of related science/engineering principles and federal/provincial/state and municipal laws and environmental legislation applicable to EVRAZ sites
Monitor and report on environmental activities
Conduct environmental projects and studies
Implement broadly defined environmental policies and manage complicated projects
Administer department and project budgets, controlling costs
Oversee and supervise the work of environmental contractors and multi-disciplinary environmental project teams
As required by the project, the position leads/participates in the negotiations with environmental regulators in order to ensure environmental compliance
Requirements
Bachelors degree in science, bachelors degree or higher, preference for engineering related degree
10 years experience managing complex environmental projects in an industrial setting
Excellent understanding of environmental legislation for the jurisdictions in which EVRAZ operates
Sound judgment of environmental issues and associated financial implications
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Supervisory capability and the ability to work cooperatively
Proven ability to creatively solve problems coupled with highly effective planning, organizing and analytical abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Preference
Diversified experience in air, water, waste water, waste management, clean-up, federal reporting for NPRI, and greenhouse gases
