Description

Job Description: Under the direction of the Clinic Supervisor the Staff Nurse performs duties related to the safe and efficient collection of blood or blood components that meet hospital requirements which may include; whole blood, autologous/directed, apheresis, and peripheral blood stem cell collections.

- Provides guidance to the clinic staff performing donor screening as per the standard consultation process. Promotes and supports knowledge transfer and progressive learning and development. Assists with and /or resolves donor screening situations when consulted by clinic staff.
- Performs collection procedures according to established standards.
- Monitor safety, comfort and status of donor during collection procedures.
- Acts a role models in the delivery of customer service excellence
- Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills:

- Current registration with SRNA.
- 1-3 years active nursing experience.
- Computer skills including word processing.
- Previous experience as a preceptor and/or coaching others to enhance job performance an asset.
- First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
- Previous experience in a regulatory environment an asset.
- Previous experience in a blood collection environment an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrate ability to speak and write English clearly.

Additional Information:

There is one (1) temporary part-time position available, with a term end date of April 5, 2016. Hours of work are based on a 0.5 FTE; approximately 37.5 biweekly, averaged over a 6 week period. All hours are flexible as assigned and will include shift work.
